Obituary of Alice Marie Elliott

Smethport - Alice Marie Elliott, 96, of East Smethport, passed away Wednesday (August 29, 2018) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

 

She was born March 23, 1922 in Bradford, a daughter of Samuel and Lydia Butterfield Grigsby.  On September 22, 1940, in Andover, NY, she married William L.Elliott, who died on April 13, 2006.

 

Mrs. Elliott was a graduate from finishing school in Jamestown, NY.

 

Alice worked for Olean Tile Co, Bamby Bakery, AVX in Olean, NY, and ultimately Viko Furniture Co. in Eldred, from where she retired in 1984. She also helped her husband over the years working in the woods logging.

 

She enjoyed  hunting, making jelly and jam, canning, and baking.  She enjoyed her family and loved her dog "Molly".  She was a member of the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport.

 

She is survived by:

four sons:, Daniel L. Elliott of Smethport, Richard G. Elliott of Hazelhurst, Timothy P. Elliott of Turtlepoint, Jon "Jack" H. Elliott of East Smethport

one daughter:, Melody McDowell of South Carolina

20 Grandchildren, 65 Great Grandchildren, and 20 Great Great Grandchildren                                        .

One sister: Dorothy “Dot” Norton of St. Petersburg, FL

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and William, one daughter, Dolores Elliott, three grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10-11 AM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St.,  Smethport, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 AM, with the Rev. B.J. Simms, pastor of the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
