Some years ago, while visiting Port Allegany, my Dad, Melvin C. Thompson had us stop and see his cousin Elinor. It was a beautiful, summer afternoon and this gracious woman, not only invited us to spend the afternoon, but shared a warmth that made us all feel welcome. She took my five year old son down to the river and gleefully entertained him as well as my wife, my Dad and myself. We will never forget her kindness and what she meant to Nolan, that not so little boy now. My Dad loved his Aunt Mabel, Uncle Albert and all their kids. What a nice day we had in the middle of the summer because of her thoughtfulness. God bless her memory.
