Smethport-Elizabeth Anne Duda, age 37, recently of Cheyenne, Wyoming died unexpectedly September 22, 2009.She was born April 5, 1972, in Bradford, Pa., daughter of the late Dominic A. Alfieri and Shirley Ann (Barnes) Alfieri who survives. Anne was a 1990 graduate of Smethport Area High School; graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994 with a degree in English Literature and French. She was a member of the National Education Association and the Golden Key Honor Society. She loved teaching English and working with her students. She taught at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Alamogordo High School, Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter who was devoted to her family.Survivors include her husband, Lt. Col. John F. Duda, Jr., of Cheyenne, whom she married August 7, 1993, at St. Elizabeth's parish in Smethport, Pa.; two daughters, Cecilia and Sophia , both of Cheyenne; her siblings, Anthony J. Alfieri, Thomas M. Alfieri, (Kimberly) James V. Alfieri (Vicki) and Michael D. Alfieri, all of Smethport and Mary Alfieri Richmond (Mark) of Erie, Pa. and David P. Alfieri of Texas. Also survived by twelve nieces and nephews: Alexandra, Felicia and Dominic Alfieri, Jonathan and Allison Richmond, Connor, Preston and Jocelyn Alfieri, April, Steven and Laura Alfieri and Caroline Abel.Friends may call at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, 2 Bank Street, Smethport on Tuesday, September 29th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to be followed by a blessing / prayer service.Additional visitation will be at the James C. Stump Funeral Home, 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon, Pa on Wednesday, September 30th from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne Parish, 1870 Rostraver Road, Belle Vernon, Pa on October 1st at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Monongahela, Pa.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamlin Memorial Library 123 South Mechanic Street, Smethport or the Smethport Memorial Recreation Center Swimming Pool, 100 West Willow Street, Smethport.
