Obituary of Doris Isabelle Stilson

Smethport - Doris Isabelle Stilson, 92, of East Smethport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday (May 21, 2012). She was residing in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport. She was born June 23, 1919 in Oil City, a daughter of Wallace Grear and Essie P. Long Watson. She was raised in a Christian home and, at a fairly young age, gave her heart and life to the Lord. Down the road, God sent a handsome young man, Galen E. Stilson, into her life. They were married on August 22, 1942 in Nickleville, PA. Galen went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2005. Mrs. Stilson was a graduate of Emlenton High School in Emlenton, PA, and was a housewife. She had three priorities: God, family, and the Church. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother. She spent much of her time reading the Bible, praying and seeing that her family was taken care of. She was a devoted member of the East Smethport United Christian Church, where she was active in many aspects of the congregation. She was also the organist there for many years. She is survived by one daughter: Carolyn "Connie" Bishop of East Smethport, PA two sons: Galen "Butch" Stilson, Jr. of Trinity, FL and David "Terry" Stilson of East Smethport, PA three granddaughters: Terrie Anne, Casey and Corey three grandsons: Troy, Andy and Dan 8 great grandchildren: Alayna, Alexis, Abbie, Calen, Haley, Abbey, Wyatt and Bradley In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 brother and 3 sisters. A Going Home Celebration will be held Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 am from the East Smethport United Christian Church, East Smethport for Doris and Galen together, as per their wishes. The Rev. Allen Young, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Military Honors for Galen will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
