The Ralph and Donald Herzog families have such fond memories of the Gallup family going way back to the 1940's.
Arthur Jr. and Jean (Emily) spent many vacations, hunting seasons, holidays, summer visits and Fair weeks back "home" in Betula near Smethport for more than 50 years. Myself and my sisters were playmates of Cynthia and Elizabeth Gallup. We usually met at Art Sr. and Johanna's house for play, fun and food, while our mothers and fathers chatted.
Grandma Johanna taught me all the old world and rural PA farm home and garden skills in great detail. Art Sr. taught me to shoot and fish. Not a day passes that I don't use some practical technique Johanna taught me. The Gallups were very very fine fine people. I am so glad I visited Jean and Art Jr. in Richmond in 2008. Old age is not an easy time of life. They were lucky to have daughters and grand daughters to visit and help out in later years. Our deepest condolences and fondest greetings to you all.
