Obituary of Emily Jean Gallup

Bon Air, VA-Emily Jean Gallup, age 85, of Bon Air, VA, died Saturday, September 14, 2013. Mrs. Gallup was born August 21, 1928 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Ernst Emil and Edna Frances Logan Banzhof. She married Arthur Gallup, who survives, June 27, 1949 in Elmira, NY. Emily graduated from Elmira Free Academy in Elmira, NY, and then attended Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA, becoming an elementary teacher. She taught at Dale Mead School in Richmond, VA; Logan School in Tyrone, PA; and at Thomas Dale School, also of Richmond, VA. She was a member of the Chesterfield County Republican Committee, the Historical Society of Richmond, VA, Church Women United of Richmond, VA, a member of the Republican Women’s Society, and the United Methodist Church Women’s Group. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: Two daughters: Cynthia Jean Gallup D’Avonzo and Elizabeth Suzanne Gallup Rasnic Three grandchildren: Chelsea Lean Rasnic, Thomas Logan Rasnic, and Katherine Jade D’Avonzo A sister: Shirley Edna Banzhof Fervan In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Franic Banzhof Page.
